History of Chris Walker Plastering & Damp Proofing

We are a small family run Plastering and Damp Proofing business located in Mapperley Village ,Ilkeston, Derbyshire

Chris Walker has over 35 years of plastering experience. He started off completing a 5 year apprenticeship and then moved on and completed 10 years working for Erewash Borough Council. Whilst working with the council he was trained in the area of damp proofing.

In 1991 Chris then went self employed and started up Chris Walker Plastering & Damp Proofing. Though based in Ilkeston Chris has undertaken jobs throughout Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and continues to serve these areas today. In 1992 Chris became an approved damp proofing contractor for Sovereign Chemical Company. To gain the approval Chris had his damp proofing jobs assessed by the chemical company to make sure it was up to the high standard that they expect of approved contractors. In 1995 Chris was then approved by Biokil Crown Chemical Company (formally Crown Chemicals) which is based in Long Eaton. This approval was for damp and timber treatment. He went through a similar process to the other chemical company to gain approved status. Certificates of approval are available to be viewed. Being approved by chemical companies’ means we can offer insurance backed guarantees on damp proofing work.

In 2003 Chris was joined by his son Paul. Over the years Paul has become a fully trained NVQ qualified plasterer and trained in the field of damp treatment and timber treatment.

In January 2009 the business became a member of Derbyshire County Council’s Trusted Trader scheme. Derbyshire trading standards check out all the businesses on the Derbyshire Trusted Trader register, which aims to help people find honest and reliable traders committed to doing a good job at a fair price. In March 2010 Chris Walker & Son became members of the Buy With Confidence scheme. We can be found on their website at www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk . Information is available on their website of how a business becomes a member of the scheme and what checks are undertaken.
